It’s incredible how hundreds of thousands of young people are being shaped by the world around them by culture, peers, education, or circumstance. What is shaping your reality right now? God? Your friends? Your environment? The ideas you consume daily?

Take a moment to reflect. What do you see yourself becoming? Who are you actually becoming?

Many of the definitions you carry about yourself perhaps inherited from family, society, or even generations before you may not truly reflect your purpose. Enough of the guesswork. It’s time to declutter.

Ask yourself: What does God say about you? And if you wonder, “How do I hear God?” the real question is: Do you truly know where you come from, and what you were created for?

The journey of self-discovery begins not with imitation, but with clarity. Declutter your mind. Tune into your origin. Decide who you are becoming.

Just as we eat daily to nourish our bodies,

So must we feed our diction to nourish our voice.

🌍 We live in a global village, where communication can build nations or break dreams. And the painful truth is—people lose opportunities, job interviews, and meaningful connections just because of one thing: misused expressions.

You may not notice,

But a single wrong phrase can quietly close a door you didn’t even know was open.

As someone learning and teaching English as a second language, I understand this deeply. So today, I want to share two commonly misused phrases—and why we must let them go.

❌ Phrase 1: Divine Upliftment

✅ Correct: Divine Uplift

Why is it wrong?

There’s no such word as upliftment in the English language.

It’s a non-standard creation, commonly used in informal or religious settings, but not recognized in any reputable dictionary. It’s grammatically incorrect in formal writing or public speaking.

The word uplift is complete.

It serves as both a noun (a feeling of hope or a boost in spirit) and a verb (to raise, promote, or encourage).

Examples:

❌ This is my year of divine upliftment.

✅ This is my year of divine uplift.

✅ The news brought great uplift to the community.

💡 Adding "-ment" here is unnecessary and ungrammatical. Uplift doesn’t need fixing.

❌ Phrase 2: Wonders Will Never End

✅ Correct: Wonders Will Never Cease

Why is it wrong?

“Wonders will never end” is a popular misquote of the original English idiom.

The correct version, Wonders will never cease, is used to express amazement, surprise, or disbelief—usually in an unexpected or unusual situation.

Examples:

❌ Wonders will never end!

✅ Wonders will never cease!

🤯 The correct idiom has centuries of usage behind it. Replacing it loses its depth and power.

🧠 Why Does This Matter?

Because language is a gateway.

When we speak or write correctly, we’re not just communicating—we’re creating trust, connection, and credibility.

You don’t need to be perfect. But you need to be intentional.

Especially as a speaker, writer, content creator, or professional.

To begin, here’s one of my poems—“Tongue”. It was inspired by a friend’s poetry contest on the same theme, but I ended up writing it more for myself than for the stage

TONGUE

The sponge part of life—

As long as it flows from within,

It foretells the fate of its bearer.

The source of taste,

Reflecting the state of its carrier’s soul.

It shelters and binds,

It frees and confines.

Jax Tongue!

Its blade scorches the slothful,

In a world bound by alliance.

It alters sound for victory,

Yet can strip away the cries of rebirth.

Jax Tongue!

In your hold lies the future of generations.

Even the unborn may suffer your consequences.

Ahọ́n—the path to greatness.

Every sound you produce reshapes destiny.

Jax Tongue!

I am doomed, I am a success—

Torn from this long ancestral line.

Oh! My ancestors weep,

For they bit their tongues,

And upon those silent wounds, we stand.

Our children depend on our voices,

The curse of the tongue must end.

Jax Tongue!

In the fair cavity, you stage your scene,

While nations shift and fates unravel.

Swift to hear, slow to speak—

The Creator echoes...
